CFA Exam
Hey guys,
One of my co-workers at my new position is planning to begin her studies for the CFA exam soon and is concerned whether she'll have enough time outside of work to prepare. Therefore I wanted to ask whether any of you have any learning materials you'd be able to send me.
So, feel free to send anything you might have my way! Thanks
It is hard, I failed first time around b/c I did not put in enough time. You need 4-6 moths study prep.
so… shes not sure if she'll have enough time to prepare so in order to counteract this we are to send you study materials?
i have some nigerian friends who need checks cashed as well if anyone wants to help out
Nick,
I understand you interpreted what I wrote said as some form of deceit, though I don't really understand what my intention would be if I did. After reading it again, I think I was unclear.
My coworker is planning to take the CFA exam. She has many months before she's going to take it, but the hours she works at our firm (private equity) are long and she asked if anyone had any notes/study guides that might help out. So I sent out a message to the members of this group to see if they had anything I could forward on. If I was the one who needed notes, I would have just asked. I shared a set of notes I had for the Series 7 exam in a previous thread a lot of people here have responded to.
If you still think i'm somehow trying to fool you into surrendering whatever notes you might have, doesn't matter to me.
If she works in Private Equity, I don't see how she cannot afford the notes herself from Schweiser or other study preps. Why ask and not buy, especially when they're likely to change materials? Hmm. Just costs 1200 (usually less), which should be chump change for someone in PE.
Nick, hilarious.
Not sure how important a CFA is in PE. Typically see all the HF and equity research people going for a CFA. An MBA seems more appropriate for a PE person because it would broaden your connections versus learning more finance knowledge. Not that it won't be helpfully to your salary, more certifications always better.
That being said, I was told it takes about 250 hours of studying. So even if you are doing 20 hours/week, thats ~3 months of studying.
I must admit Nick, quite funny.
She has an MBA already, don't know what her goal is to do with the CFA. Portfolio Manager? Anyway, thanks for the info everyone. It's good to know this for myself though just in case I ever develop an interest in doing it.
