Level II Trading Platform
Does anyone have any recommendations for any trading platforms which will allow you to see the real-time level ii and basic real-time charts? I’m not looking to open a trading account, just need a platform to follow the markets when I’m off work early from trading and do some paper-trading at home. I would prefer something that doesn’t require capital, and minimal monthly fee. Something like Tradestation.com is perfect but they require you to open a retail account with 5k in it =(

Cheapest one to open an account I have yet found.
I use Etrade AND RBC ACTION DIRECT.
Etrade shows five levels of bid / offer – OK for most stocks.
RBC Action Direct shows 20 levels – much more comprehensive for active traders.
I think Etrade shows the Level Two for all accounts – but I know RBC requires a minimum ( of 10 ? ) trades a month.
Chris, I don’t think zecco has level 2 quotes, and they’re web based not software based.
I checked out zecco.com and its web-based doesn’t offer level ii. Etrade and RBC both require minimum trades/account balance. I’m hoping for something that wouldn’t require these as I won’t be putting on any trades, just trying to monitor the markets at home. Thanks for the replies though!
Here is a compromise. Interactive Brokers requires $5k minimum opening balance. BUT, you can then open a Paper Trading Account and paper trade then. IB has LEVEL II for any market, equity and derivative contract you can imagine.

I hope this helps.
I like my optionsxpress which has the free nyse arca level IIs, or you can go to the arca website which has the free java level IIs. Everybody should download quotetracker if you don’t already have esignal or the like, great free program…
I agree QTracker has free charts and demo too but If you consider opening a Trading Account you will need to have an Account with a Broker liek Etrade Ameritrade Scottrade etc. where chances are quotes are free as long as you meet their minimum trading/account equity requirements. If it is money you don’t want to spend on quotes and comsih try opening a Trading Account with a discount Broker. They are always less expensive to maintain and you will be surprise about the service they provide. hope this helps ya’ -Regards.
Try out http://www.macroaxis.com
It provides free charts and good analytics for your portfolio.
Its free and you don’t need to open trading account with them.

i heard it was good
Why do u want to use level 2 if u just want to follow the market? scottrade is pretty cheap to open and no minimal to keep it open, stream quotes are free. But the best trading platform and quotes, hands down is esignal, however is gonna cost u. with anything out there u get what u pay for.
e signal, what most buy side firms use, according to my experience. At wellington, they used e signal and tied it it IBD’s 1000 buck premium package.
I got the IBD, and love it, but have no need for e signal. I use options express and am VERY HAPPY.
i will be pissed off if OXPS gets bought out
I use Think or Swim for option, and it has treated me well. IBD? Investor Business Daily
