I think sawyer is in the casket, cuz jack went upto kate and asked why she did not come to the funeral.

She seemed to act as if it was a person she would have no reason to go see, and I think, at this point at least, she'd have a reason to go to Sawyer's funeral.

Thats why i think its Michael, after all he killed two losties and kidnapped her.

I thought it was Sawyer at first too, but then who was it that Kate had to rush home to

it cant be sawyer, because even if he isnt the most liked survior, ppl would still bother to go to his funeral.

I think its Ben. Jack was desperate to get back to the island, and Ben would help him do so. And Kate wouldnt care if he was dead.

Could be Locke for the same reason…?

All the flash-forwards dealt with Jack wanting to get back to the island and Locke was the only one who knew they needed to stay in the first place.

Locke? Locke would stay on the island and would be buried on the island. Sawyer? What the heck?…. its Alex's b/f!

Well, it could be anyone… but considering Kate's question as to why she would attend the viewing, it could be Juliet, Michael… I would think if Kate wouldn't even think to come to the viewing, it has to be someone that did her wrong. Of course, the flash-forward skipped a buttload of events… and do people really think that Ben would leave the island? I kind of assumed that Ben/others, Locke, and Rousseau would stay behind if they were given the choice…

I would say Ben.

I'm sating Ben or locke not michael because Walt would have been there, not sawyer because that is who kate went home to it could have been juliet.

It is soo Juliet cause Jaack would have went to see her and Kate wouldn't, but also, her sister would be there too right?

I think its someone we haven't met yet, I just think that the producers want to keep us guessing. Maybe its whoever rescued them off the island, I don't know but I don't think we know them yet

But the man said that NOBODY except jack went to the viewing. so none of the other survivors who left the island either…and I for some reason got the impression that Jack only went because he thought he might see Kate there.

I think it's Ben, Cuz jack was upset when he saw the article on the newspaper, he was so upset that he tried to jump of a bridge.

Why? because firstly ,No one would come to Ben's Funeral. Most of the other people on the plane have or know someone that would come to his funeral, hell even Locke.
Also, The size of the casket was fairly small, Sawyer would have never fit in the casket, It's not Juliet or any other woman because the article states it's man.

Now let's go over some stuff that we saw,

Kate didn't want to attend the funeral. Now this is because she disliked the person who died so much she wouldn't come to his funeral. The way I see it, there are at least 3 people for this spot, Michael who've killed 2 of his own people, but the guy is too tall and wide for a casket of that size. Locke, But he's again fairly large and why wouldn't Helen come to his funeral? And why wouldn't Kate come to his funeral? sure he went to the other's side for a while but he helped the losties in many situations. and the last candidate is Ben. Kate would have absolutely no reason to go the funeral, she hates Ben. He did all these things to her and the losties.

ok again with these 3 candidates, The name on the paper was J "Something" antham. I think the producers are trying to confuse us by making us wonder who's this guy is. I think it's one of these 3 guys. One of them changed his name, his whole identity. Locke would have no reason to change is name. Sawyer, well he killed a guy but again with the casket size, Sawyer is too big. Ben Betrayed most of DHARMA. As far as Dharma and their people are concerned, Benjamin Linus is dead, he died with the Dharma people during the Purge, so if Ben would have left the island, he would've used a different name.

Another thing, I think the flash-forward wanted us to basically witness what will happen to Jack, one of the people jack had direct contact with on the island in the finale, is the same guy who've died in the Flash-forward. The whole " we should go back to the island" thing, it Seemed that jack made a mistake, he wasn't supposed to leave the island. in the LOST time, 2 people told jack to not contact Naomi's people, Ben and Locke. Even so jack did call Naomi's people. which is going to lead to a terrible thing that's going to happen to the losties. a thing Jack will be depressed about for the rest of his life. Locke did say " your not supposed to do this" but his encounter with Jack wasn't as big as jack's encounter with Ben. Ben kept telling Jack to not call the boat. But jack did, hell jack even beat the hell out of Ben. after that, jack called Noami's people, which will lead to his downfall. and what's gonna torture him is that ben, or locke kept telling him to not do it. And jack didn't listen. So jack left the island, became drunk, a junkie, and so on and so fourth. and when Ben died, That was the final push for jack. that was what lead him to his final step, to commit suicide.

One last thing, the guy who've died committed suicide, he didn't want to leave the island. This guy could be Ben or Locke.

I don't think Michael is that big of a guy. He has a pretty compact physique.

If it is a character that we've already met (and I'm leaning toward the idea that it's not), then Ben seems like the most likely candidate and your reasoning (he changed his name; didn't have anyone to come to his viewing) makes sense.

After reading Jeff Jensen's article on Entertainment Weekly, I'm thinking that its Michael. Second guess would be Locke.

To me it seems as if people say micheal, then find reasons for him being the one, because the neighbor hood is essential african american.

Now, there are 3 possibilties for who could be in the case. Ben, Locke or a new character. My bet is the new character
