just thought i'd see how widespread the music i've played is
My favorite has got to be "Vesuvius" by Frack Ticheli

I have a few favorites. I don't do to many solo peices. I play in small groups of big bands. My favorite songs that i've played have been "Spain" by chick Corea, "Lush Life"- Billy Strayhorn, and "Anthropology" Dizzy Gillespie/Charlie Parker.

Some of my favorites are Elsa's Proscession to The Cathedral, and right now for community band we are playing 1812 overture

i've played 1812 before, the others sound familier but i must add "abrahms pursuit"

Capricho Arabe by Francisco Tarrega on guitar.

une nuit sur le mont chauve (night on bald mountan by murssogky), farandole, and russian saliors dance. oh, and an arragnement of "Pirates of the Carribbean". For solo, nothing can beat the six Bach suites for cello!

"Konstantine" by Something Corporate
best song ever

yeah, i'm gonna have to vote for no on that last one

Celebration of Life i dont exactly remember the composer but its an awesome piece to play.

Daniel V Payne sucks cock is a pretty good peice to

Blackbird, Jaco Pastorius.

really mature, i'll make sure to let my gay roomate know your into that kinda thing. i just prefer pieces with a little more meat to them.

I'm gunna have to say my favorite Piece I've ever played Was Graysondance by Holsinger.

my favourite:
Children's March : Over the Hills and Far Away by Percy Grainger

Vesuvius rocks, never played, only listend. Our festival pieces are my favorites played, March from sym. metamorphosis, Lincolnshire posy in its entirty and ghosttrain. Also liked incantation and dance, fantasy variations on a theme by nico. paganini and esprit de corps.

haha this whole topic makes me laugh because i've played most of the pieces people have mentioned! but i think my favorite would have to be Ghost Train…just plain fun to play. but steve, your comment on Lincolnshire Posy almost made me cry. why?! 'twas the worst 20 minutes of playage of my entire life. argh.

Favorite band: "Ride" by Samuel Hazo
Favorite big band: "Some Skunk Funk" by Randy Brecker
Favorite, period: "Joy Spring" by Clifford Brown

Graysondance is a tad, how shall I say, "repetitive" for my tastes.

on bass clairinet – The Lord Of The Rings (original compositions)
clarinet – mozartiana
bass – heart of the sunrise (only bits right now) – yes
guitar – a song i worte

Violin- Polovestian Dances
Piano – Clair de Lune

To Zanarkand-Nobuo Uematsu

Gustav von Holst, Second Suite In F

Back when I played this, The Dargason movement was murder on my fingers.

That I have played- First Suite in Eflat- Gustav Holst
That I havent played- Ballet Sacra- Holsinger

Ever heard of Fantasie-Impromptu? I love that song to death, but I haven't gotten it really fast yet

I loooove fantasie-impromptu… I played it for recital the other year. I had the opposite problem, I kept speeding up because I was so nervous: faster and faster and fasterandfasterandfasterfasterfasterfaster….
Everyone thought I was doing it on purpose, though, and they were really impressed, so what the heck

lol. but it's really hard to accent on the right beat, since Chopin's twisted idea of cool is to accent the second note T_T
it sounds cool but I can't get it right.

YE Second Suite in F is wicked were playing it rite now, ive got the euphonium solo so i feel super pro wen we play it

all the songs I play in band and orchestra are laaaame. Although I do like the Suite of Old American Dances.

either the Koussevitsky bass concerto or Sibelius' 2nd Symphony.

I like Sibelius' Finlandia too
