Why do people make fun of Green Day?
Green day is pretty good, can any one tell me what is so bad about them. Yes some of their stuff is not that great but, their not that bad

Simple music, Billie has some of the most annoying vocals I've ever heard, and American Idiot has become the new defintion of selling out as far as some are concerned.
They appeared on American Idol. That is not punk. Armstrong dislikes many worthy punk bands of yore, and yet calls his band punk and makes "punk rock operas." If they'd just admit to be a radio-friendly rock band, that'd be good enough for me.
Because they sold out, because he sucks live, because they are poser-punk.

grenday used to be good. especially their 2 first albums. Kerplunk and smoothed out slappy hous (and yes, these were their first two albums) once they released warning it all went downhill from there. i used to be a fan(still am of the older stuff) and i was really pumped for american idiot but as soon as i heard it it was such a big letdown.

Not defending Green Day in any way… but what the hell does someones sexual preference have to do with being a rocker? (I guess Rob Halford and Freddy Mercury should be excluded from rock music in that case)
more or less I agree with most everything said above…there older stuff was good but then the political crap popped up and they lost the stoner part of there lives which in turn made them suck…it probably sounds like a stupid explanation but look at metallica's older stuff, guess when they started to suck? when they stopped getting stoned and drinking all the time!
I think it has to do with the fact that they have Green in their name, but totally aren't potheads. NOT COOL. Also, Day's are for n00bs, it's all about the night.

exactly lol when artists sober up(good for them but bad for theirs music) its i donno takes away from it i guess. all the greatest music was written by drug addicts…look at aerosmith and metallica, all the classic rock. but whatever
Their actual music is very generic, the lead singer sucks, and they try to make everyone think they're a punk band when they're actually far from it.

Coburn, that is proof positive that you have absolutely no taste in music. Green Day is not only one of the shittiest bands of all time but after American Idiot, they became the most overrated band of the last 100 years.

the american idiot soolo is melodic and good.
Fail. Billie Joe is possibly one of the most pathetic guitarists to pick up the instrument. His solo on that song consists of him playing the chorus melody on the guitar. How uninspired is that? I seriously could have improvised something better.
