Honestly do u think rock music or any music in general sux these days? i think that MOST music these days sux thts y i listen to like rhcp, led zep, nirvana, jimi hendrix etc… even rap the old stuff is good but now a days they only talk about like how rich they are and they shit like soldja boy, so tell me ur opinions.

music these days almost completely sucks, with a few exceptions. but yes, most music i listen to comes from before the 90s.

best hope for the future: kanye west. he might be full of himself, but he has the skills to back it up. if you want a rock person, i’d go with the white stripes.

Mainstream music sucks. But mainstream music always sucked, except for those few exceptions.

yea….REALLY, the music they play now is not really music…like take 50 cent the rapper…GOD its all about how rich he is how he got shot and shit like that…like we really give a shit about his life..now all the rock songs im listening to are classical eg. queen…now they were a really good band even tho freddy murqury(sorry if i didnt spell that rite) was gay…who cares…most the good singers are gay..it dsnt make a difference…i think classic rock is WAY better than this new music!

Well – there is more good stuff in the rock/metal genre than pop and rap atm. Of course, there will always be crap among all genres, and we have them in our prefered genre as well. But I would say we are more fortunate than other genres…

There is so little good rock bands who actually have talent like the bands from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

all music that could pass as rock these days sounds exactly the same. the only great new bands are Velvet Revolver and Wolfmother. and Rose Hill Drive, though no one knows about them.

rock music today sucks so much, i cannot even explain how bad it is. but then again, there are VERY few that are still good. although most bands are crap, some songs are okay. all of them cant be bad, so every now and then you might find a pretty decent modern rock song.
rap on the other hand has 100% garbage

i liked the 60s, 70s and 80s rock much better.. couse it was simply the best – ac/dc,kiss,queen, led zepelin,guns n’ roses, iron maiden, van halen,boston,bon jovi, the doors, janis joplin, jimi hendrix, rhcp, metalica and other bands from that time. the 1990s was kind of bad decad for all music. today we have some good rock bands however not as good as in the 70s and 80s.

there are as much crappy bands now as there were before (maybe just a bit more)

I take that advice to heart. My favortie bands are all Metal bands from Scandanavia/Northern Europe and I live in America.

the 1990’s were an awesome time for Metal. Just look at the Norwegian Black Metal scene for example.

Hmmm Its obviously not as good as it was in its prime in the 60’s to 80’s. But its not that bad either.

It doesn’t suck, prey tell, it’s like any time. You need to dig through the crap to find a song that’s worth listening to. If you’re listening to Green Gay or Red Hot Chili Peckers or Sublime all the time, then yeah, you’re gonna think that rock sucks, because the bands are played ad infinitum.

Oh, there’s plenty underground. I only know of the metal underground, but there’s sure to be great rock bands underground, too. They’re not only in Scandinavia/Northern Europe, though. There are some great bands of the Mediterranean, Middle East, Australia, Japan, and the Americas. At least great in my opinion.

I couldn’t agree more with the title. About 95% or more of the bands I listen to were not formed in this decade. They are all: 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. I have about 65-70 bands/artists that I have, but my top 5:

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Dream Theater
3. Joe Satriani/Steve Vai (can’t decide, THEY’RE BOTH TOO GOOD!)
4. Rush/Pink Floyd (again, can’t decide)
5. Guthrie Govan

My top 3 genres of rock are: Progressive Rock (#1), Classic Hard Rock (#2), Metal (#3, most of it is shred), and Blues (#4)

Since Alternative (which isn’t very alternative anymore) is considered Rock by the corporations, then, yes, it does suck. But for those of us who actually listen to rock, its still fresh and new, and every day I’m sure a band with talent is dropped from their label and goes to Lookout records (obscure early Green Day label) and get sold at Amoeba and Rasputin (two music stores in Berkeley, CA on Telegraph Ave aka “Hippie St”).
